Description
Brahms' E minor Cello Sonata was the first work he composed for solo cello and piano. In the summer of 1865, Brahms offered the sonata to publisher Simrock, describing it as having "two absolutely easy-to-play instruments." Unlike the later F-major Sonata Op. 99, this early work is technically less demanding, yet more musically striking, making it appealing to both amateurs and professionals. Our new edition is based on the latest Brahms Complete Edition, featuring in-depth commentary and a musical text revised according to the latest scholarly research. As with our other editions, the cello part includes additional performance markings.
