Description
The origins of Brahms' G minor Quartet, Op. 25, date back to the 1850s, though the work was not completed until the fall of 1861. The composer held this new composition in high regard, even programming it for his first public appearance in Vienna as both pianist and composer a year later. To this day, it remains the most popular of Brahms' three piano quartets, due in no small part to its dazzling final movement, a Rondo alla Zingarese.
