Description
To commemorate the 150th anniversary of Debussy's birth in 2012, we are proud to present a three-volume tribute to his piano solo works, available in paperback or hardcover editions. As a publisher focused primarily on piano music, it was important for us to give special attention to the innovative works of Claude Debussy. Over the past few decades, we have steadily published single-volume editions of Debussy's major piano compositions. Our editor, Ernst-Günter Heinemann, has collaborated closely with French Debussy scholar François Lesure to produce high-quality Urtext editions of this elaborate music.
Beginning with the 1880 "Danse bohémienne," these three volumes compile all the individual works from our catalog, arranged chronologically by composition date. As a special "encore," we've also included the Prélude to the cantata "La Damoiselle élue" in Volume I. Each volume contains true highlights of Debussy's piano oeuvre, as well as lesser-known shorter works that offer a different perspective on this modern classical composer. In addition, all three volumes feature a helpful glossary translating Debussy's often vivid performance instructions into English and German.
