ohann Sebastian Bach's second eldest son, Carl Philipp Emanuel, was a preeminent composer of keyboard music during the transitional period between the baroque and classical eras. From his extensive catalog of over 150 keyboard sonatas, we have assembled a three-volume chronological selection that showcases their attractiveness and variety. Notably, this collection includes many previously unpublished sonatas, as sixty of Carl Philipp Emanuel's keyboard works remained unpublished during his lifetime.

This three-volume collection presents a chronological selection of over 150 of his keyboard sonatas, highlighting their attractiveness and variety. Notably, it includes many previously unpublished sonatas, as sixty of Bach's keyboard works remained unprinted during his lifetime.
The most renowned of the Bach sons was Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, whose compositional output centered on a substantial body of keyboard works. This final volume in Henle's three-part anthology of his piano sonatas features 11 sonatas composed between 1760 and 1783, with three appearing in print for the first time. Moreover, the volume incorporates numerous performance instructions from C.P.E. Bach's influential treatise "Essay on the True Art of Playing the Keyboard," including a comprehensive table detailing the proper execution of the most important ornament signs.
