Description
Encouraged by Muzio Clementi, the head of a distinguished publishing house in London, Beethoven transformed his Violin Concerto into a Piano Concerto. However, he retained the cadenzas to the first and third movements for this piano version. Unfortunately, no cadenzas in Beethoven's own hand exist for the original Violin Concerto. To remedy this, the renowned violinist Wolfgang Schneiderhan transcribed the cadenzas from the piano version for the violin, effectively providing us with an "original" cadenza for the Violin Concerto.
