Description
This edition of Tchaikovsky's Sérénade mélancolique, op. 26 for violin and piano marks a significant milestone. Composed in 1875, it was Tchaikovsky's first concertante work for the instrument, foreshadowing his acclaimed Violin Concerto three years later. Originally written for violin and orchestra, this enchanting serenade was later adapted for violin and piano.
Due to the loss of the autograph sources, editor Alexander Komarov has meticulously consulted the original Russian publications - which saw multiple revisions even during Tchaikovsky's lifetime. Violinist Ingolf Turban's accomplished fingerings and bowings further enhance this authoritative Henle edition, bringing clarity to the work's complex textual history.
