Description
Tchaikovsky's extensive oeuvre for solo piano, beyond his famous Piano Concerto, makes an important contribution to Romantic piano music. It includes "The Seasons" op. 37 - a collection of twelve pleasant, playable pieces that evoke a bygone bourgeois atmosphere, earning them a place in the category of "domestic music." These intimate mood-pictures allow the pianist to trace the course of the year, with the November piece "Troika" particularly capturing a Russian character through its sleigh-bells and cheerful passenger singing. Our edition is based on the autograph and the Russian first edition, and features the highly regarded fingerings of Klaus Schilde.
