Description
Tchaikovsky is one of the most frequently performed composers in concert halls worldwide. By 1873, when he composed his "Six Pieces for Piano" op. 19, he had already created two symphonies, three operas, the fantasy-overture "Romeo and Juliet," and a string quartet. Each of the six piano pieces was dedicated to and tailored for the technical abilities of one of Tchaikovsky's friends or favored pianists. This Henle Urtext edition includes a preface that provides detailed insight into the genesis and source materials of these lesser-known piano works, offering an opportunity to discover and appreciate a different side of the popular Russian composer.
