Description

Sarasate's compositions are dominated by elements of Spanish folklore, but he also incorporated typical melodies and dances from other countries in several prominent works. Among the most popular representatives of this group are the "Zigeunerweisen" and the "Introduction et Tarantelle," with the latter serving as Sarasate's enduring monument to the fiery southern Italian tarantella dance. Sarasote first composed the violin and piano version in 1899, followed by the violin and orchestra version a year later. For this Urtext edition, all preserved autograph sources were consulted. Violinist Augustin Hadelich undertook the marking of the virtuosic violin part for G. Henle Publishers.
