Description

Following Paganini's death, numerous musicians sought to assume his mantle as the "devil's violinist", but none could match the Spaniard Pablo de Sarasate's captivating virtuosity. Sarasate's unique violin technique immediately enthralled audiences.

It was therefore unsurprising that Sarasate composed highly virtuosic pieces for his own performances. Composed in 1877, the "Gypsy Airs" take the form of an expansive Hungarian Csárdás, showcasing the pinnacle of dazzling violin technique. These works continue to challenge even the greatest violinists today.

For our Urtext edition, we were fortunate to enlist the expertise of modern violin sorcerer Ingolf Turban, who provided fingerings and bowings to guide performers.
