RM 135.90

Description

In 1784, Mozart experienced an extraordinary surge in creativity regarding his piano concertos, composing K.449, 450, 451, and 453 in rapid succession. Following a brief hiatus, he completed K.456 and 459, showcasing his remarkable productivity during this period. Notably, during Lent, he dedicated himself to piano performance, with records indicating he played at least 23 concertos within just 46 days, all while also engaging in composition and teaching. The F major Concerto K.459, crafted in Vienna for his personal use, was likely performed at an Advent concert in December 1784. This concerto, sometimes dubbed Mozart's second Coronation concerto, was notably played during the coronation of Leopold II in Frankfurt am Main in October 1790.
