Description
In 1836, Chopin pioneered the use of the "ballad" form in piano music with the publication of his Ballad Op. 23, even though the term had previously been confined to literature and vocal compositions. Notably, all four of Chopin's ballads possess a dramatic, narrative quality, with the musical line building in tension and culminating in a powerful climax. After thoroughly re-evaluating this edition of Chopin's works, including the latest scholarly insights, we have revised it accordingly. The most significant revisions are documented in the printed critical apparatus, while the full, detailed version can be downloaded.
