Description
Chopin gave the "scherzo" a distinct character, and his second Scherzo is likely the most well-known of the four works he composed in that genre. Fortunately, unlike the first Scherzo which only survives in its initial printings, manuscript materials also exist for the second. These multiple sources are supplemented by printed copies that belonged to Chopin's students, containing his own annotations, which have been newly evaluated for this revised Henle Urtext edition. Footnotes provide information on authorized variants, and in addition to the report included in the edition, a detailed critical report is available online with in-depth details on the source history.
