Description
Sarasate, the renowned composer and violin virtuoso, composed his Spanish Dances (HN 1370) by blending existing folk songs and works by established composers with his own captivating musical style. The two dances in Op. 22, "Romanza andaluza" and "Jota Navarra," were completed in 1878 during Sarasate's first concert tour of Scandinavia. While both pieces displayed his virtuosity, the lyrical "Romanza" quickly surpassed the brilliance of its companion work in popularity, becoming one of Sarasate's most frequently performed compositions. This enduringly charming piece is now available as a standalone edition in the Henle catalogue.
