Description
Together with Pierre Baillot and Rodolphe Kreutzer, the violinist Pierre Rode founded the influential Franco-Belgian violin school at the end of the 18th century. Celebrated across Europe, Rode's "24 Caprices en Forme d'Études" in all keys stand as impressive testament to his technical mastery. While solely focused on exploring technical phenomena, he composed valuable works that recall Paganini's pieces of the same name. To this day, these "Caprices" remain a cornerstone of every violinist's training at the conservatory level.
G. Henle Publishers' new Urtext edition provides the definitive version of the "Caprices," clarifying the source material (original and revised editions) in detail. Violinist Friedemann Eichhorn, a leading Rode specialist, assisted with the preparation of this edition, contributing fingering and bowing suggestions tailored for modern violin instruction.
