Description
The prominent violin pedagogues Rodolphe Kreutzer, Pierre Rode, and Jakob Dont are united in this volume. Kreutzer and Rode each composed influential collections of studies at the start of the 19th century (see HN 1177 and HN 1186). In 1852, Dont wrote his exceptionally helpful 24 Preparatory Exercises op. 37 as an introduction to these two standard works - a collection no violin student can avoid even today. The success of these pieces is evident from the numerous revised editions published in the 20th century by violinists such as Hans Sitt, Carl Flesch, and Ivan Galamian.
This new Urtext edition from G. Henle Publishers restores access to Dont's original, unadulterated text, including his authentic fingering and bowing suggestions in a highly legible musical score. Prominent violin pedagogue Paul Roczek acted as a consultant, carefully supplementing Dont's original markings.
