Description
An admirer once remarked to Robert Schumann that he, as a man, had perceived a depth in his song cycle Frauenliebe und Leben that even the most perceptive female heart might struggle to grasp. This observation highlights Schumann's profound connection to the romantic nuances found in Adelbert von Chamisso's poetry, a bond likely strengthened by the joyful context in which the cycle was composed, just prior to his marriage to Clara Wieck. Since its debut, Frauenliebe und Leben has enjoyed widespread acclaim among both male and female vocalists. To further broaden its accessibility, we present this Schumann cycle in two additional transpositions—one for high voice and another for low voice—alongside the original middle register.
