Description
Debussy intentionally avoided placing titles at the top of his Préludes for piano (HN 383), published in 1910, instead writing them in parentheses at the end - almost as an afterthought to the pieces. Yet the 8th prelude in the collection, "La Fille aux cheveux de lin" (The Girl with the Flaxen Hair), has become renowned in its own right. The dreamy, graceful music perfectly captures this evocative image. Since then, this much-loved prelude has been the subject of numerous arrangements for other instrumentations. Our edition presents the Urtext musical text for piano, along with a detailed preface.
