Description

Of all chamber music genres, none was as extensively explored by Mozart as his duos for piano and violin. In addition to the 16 sonatas, this repertoire includes two variation cycles that Mozart composed in 1781, during his first year in Vienna, likely intended for his students. The pairing of duo/duet and variation form made these two works especially renowned. Both cycles, particularly the second in G minor, stand among Mozart's finest chamber compositions.
