Description
Chopin expertly crafted distinct characters for various piano genres, including etudes, preludes, waltzes, scherzi, and nocturnes. The Irish composer John Field had already composed over 20 nocturnes, which likely influenced Chopin's own development of the lyrical, song-like piano writing that embodied his dreamy, wistful style. This collection features Chopin's published works during his lifetime as well as posthumous publications, such as the famous Lento con gran espressione in C-sharp minor, which exists in two authentic versions.
