Description
Combining Schumann's two popular collections, the Kinderszenen and Album für die Jugend, was a natural choice. Both sets reflect an inner connection, and their technical demands on the pianist are relatively modest. Moreover, these more-or-less short, concise pieces have profoundly influenced middle-class musical culture since their publication in the 19th century. As noted by Ernst Herttrich, "they have lost hardly any of their appeal to this day."
