Description
Combining Schumann's two bestselling works, the Carnaval and Kinderszenen, seemed natural. Both collections reflect a similar inner character, and their technical demands on the pianist are relatively modest (see the levels of difficulty). Moreover, these short, concise pieces have profoundly influenced middle-class musical culture since their publication in 1839 and 1848, retaining their widespread appeal to this day, as noted by Ernst Herttrich in the preface.
