Description
Dated 1 June 1790, Haydn's autograph manuscript of his Sonata in E-flat major was written for Marianne von Gennzinger, with whom he maintained a close personal relationship and musical collaboration. Though Marianne greatly admired the work, she struggled with the hand-crossing passages in the glorious B-flat-minor middle section of the second movement, remarking "because I am unused to such things, it is thus difficult for me." In contrast, renowned pianist Evgeny Kissin, who has "adopted" this Haydn sonata, finds such technical challenges no obstacle. G. Henle Publishers is proud to present this Haydn treasure, now featuring fingerings by the piano legend Kissin.
