Description
This rousing Polonaise, preceded by a nocturne-like Andante, was originally a work for piano and orchestra. Composed concurrently with Chopin's two piano concertos in E minor and F minor, it shares their fresh, youthful spirit. The orchestral part plays a subordinate, accompanying role, allowing the Polonaise to thrive as a solo piano piece - the version most often heard in concert halls today. Reflecting this, our Urtext edition presents the solo piano part exclusively, with the orchestral accompaniment printed in small font only where the piano is tacet.
