Description
Fréderic Chopin's ill-fated stay with George Sand on Mallorca during the winter of 1838/1839 did not prevent him from completing his "Préludes" there, which he had begun composing in Paris. Today's interpreters must grapple not only with numerous variant readings, but also with corrupt performance traditions. This new edition of the "Préludes" is the first in our comprehensive Chopin revisions, where the editor has incorporated the latest scholarly findings. The musical text now includes both "established" variants as well as others found in the source materials. Additionally, this volume features a shorter critical report, with the extensive version available for download.
