Description
Liszt's "Transcendental Studies" from 1852 are undoubtedly among the pinnacle achievements of virtuoso piano music, and their imaginative language and lyrical expression render them a significant milestone of the romantic era. This collection of twelve études reflects the outcomes of the composer's own revisions of a previously published set from 1827 and 1839. Consequently, the primary source for our edition was a printed copy of the earlier version, which contains numerous alterations in the composer's handwriting. Each of these works, including the renowned "Harmonies du soir" and "Mazeppa", possesses its own title and has been incorporated into the concert repertoire more as a tone-poem than as an étude, each with its unique character.
