Description

Telemann's six sonatas, published in 1732, were described as "methodical" because they included a second, ornamented version of the simple melody line for the slow opening movements and the second movement of the C-minor sonata. This music is both instructive and delightful for flautists and violinists to play. The new Henle Urtext edition, the only one to evaluate all available sources, provides separate solo and bass continuo parts with the other part included for orientation, as well as an additional part featuring just the figured bass line. The score also includes a historically accurate realization of the figured bass. The first volume of these "Methodical Sonatas" has already been published (HN 1266), making all twelve of Telemann's sonatas now available as Henle Urtext editions.
