The four sonatas published in 1732 under Benedetto Marcello's name are now firmly established in the cello repertoire, despite some dispute over his authorship. By this time, Marcello had already specialized in sacred works, but the musical beauty of these sonatas remains captivating. This F major Sonata, with its four movements, provides a solid introduction to classical cello literature and tenor clef reading for cellists proficient in the first four positions.
