To this day, the concerto is cherished by horn players worldwide, ranking alongside Mozart's masterworks as an essential piece. Peter Damm, the former principal horn of the Staatskapelle Dresden and acclaimed soloist, has performed the concerto over 170 times and conducted pivotal research on its origins. Damm's Urtext edition, prepared after reviewing all surviving sources, is considered the definitive version. Additionally, a practical study edition of the orchestral score is available, eliminating numerous errors from the initial publication.
