Description
This piano concerto by Mozart marks the start of an ambitious project at Henle Publishers. Over the next few years, many of the Salzburg master's 23 piano concertos will be published in completely new Urtext editions. And renowned pianist András Schiff is collaborating with us on this endeavor.
Schiff's piano reductions are geared towards amateurs rather than professionals. His exquisitely fine-tuned fingerings for Mozart's solo part are both practical and inspiring. Where Mozart's original cadenzas are missing, Schiff has composed stylistically perfected ones to include.
In doing so, we aim to set a new standard. The quality is assured not only by Schiff, but also by the Mozart scholars entrusted with Henle's Urtext editions. Each work is edited by a specialist, following predetermined guidelines. The most important sources consulted are Mozart's own handwritten scores.
In some cases, these had not been available for previous editions. Additionally, early part copies and printed scores contain important textual information that is incorporated.
This is a co-production with Breitkopf & Härtel, making Mozart's piano concertos available as attractive and affordable piano reductions. An Urtext conductor's score, orchestral parts, and a study score also accompany the editions. This comprehensive set allows the works to be used in diverse contexts - from definitive Urtext study of the solo part, to collaborative piano performance, to full orchestral study and rendition.
