Description
J.S. Bach's three gamba sonatas are considered essential works in the repertoire for this low string instrument. These sonatas draw inspiration from Bach's other compositions, which were originally written for different performing forces. Sharing a common three-part texture featuring the gamba and two-voice keyboard, our viola arrangement remains faithful to Bach's own arranging approach. Instances where the original gamba line falls below the viola's range can be easily remedied by shifting the melody to a higher octave.
