Description

The majority of Mozart's compositions for solo String Instruments and Orchestra were created between 1773 and 1779. Particularly significant in this context are the years 1773 and 1775, during which the five concertos for Violin and Orchestra were composed, alongside several individual movements for the same arrangement. The reasons for this surge of activity in this field stem partly from the reality that Mozart, who was still serving as concertmaster to the Prince-Archbishop, felt compelled or motivated to create such pieces for special events during this extended time in Salzburg. However, another reason was undoubtedly the chance to experiment with all the new compositional methods learned during his third trip to Italy and his several-month stay in Vienna from July to September 1773.

The piano arrangement of Mozart’s G Major Violin Concerto is simpler to perform, tidy, and functional with page turns at appropriate moments and useful fold-out pages.
