Description

Mozart produced the majority of his compositions for solo string instruments and orchestra between the years 1773 and 1779. Notably, the years 1773 and 1775 were significant, as they saw the creation of five concertos for violin and orchestra, along with several individual movements for the same ensemble. This prolific output can be attributed in part to Mozart's role as concertmaster to the Prince-Archbishop, which likely necessitated or inspired him to create works for special occasions during his extended time in Salzburg. Additionally, the opportunity to explore new compositional techniques gained during his third trip to Italy and his several-month stay in Vienna from July to September 1773 played a crucial role in this creative surge.
