Description

Most of Mozart's compositions for orchestra and solo string instruments were written between 1773 and 1779. The years 1773 and 1775 are particularly significant in this regard because they saw the composition of the five violin and orchestra concertos as well as a number of single movements for the same scoring. The fact that Mozart, who was still the Prince-Archbishop's concertmaster, felt compelled or motivated to compose such pieces for special occasions throughout his lengthy stay in Salzburg is one of the factors contributing to this explosion of activity in this field. The opportunity to play with all the new compositional techniques he had learned during his third journey to Italy and his several-month sojourn in Vienna from July to September 1773, however, was undoubtedly another factor.

The violin concerto in D major by Mozart is easier to play, more organized, and more useful with fold-out pages when needed and page turns where needed.
