Description
The familiar image of Schubert at the piano, surrounded by friends dancing and joking, has become a common cliché associated with the composer. The term "Schubertiades" was coined to describe these lively gatherings.
This first volume contains a remarkable 182 dances, including minuets, waltzes (such as the famous "Trauerwalzer", D 365 No. 2), Ländler, Ecossaises, and Germans - each one more beautiful than the last. Schubert composed the final pieces in this volume in 1816, when he was just 19 years old (Vol. II is available as HN 76).
