Bach's harpsichord concertos, which enjoy significant popularity among pianists, are believed to be adaptations of compositions initially created for the violin. Nevertheless, Bach adeptly translated the unique characteristics of violin technique to the keyboard with remarkable creativity, leading many contemporary pianists to incorporate these concertos into their core repertoire. The d minor concerto stands out as perhaps the most favored, particularly due to its lively outer movements and the strikingly powerful solo section. In anticipation of a comprehensive series featuring all of Bach's harpsichord concertos, G. Henle Publishers is releasing a piano reduction and study edition (score) of the d minor concerto.
