Description

Chopin composed his piano concertos around 1829/30, marking the culmination of his student years in Warsaw. Both works are early masterpieces that brought him great triumphs on his first concert tours abroad, and their popularity has endured to this day. The Concerto in F minor, the first to be written, was not published until 1836, by which time Chopin was firmly established in Paris. Compared to the E-minor concerto, the source material for this work is more extensive, including not only first editions and student copies, but also a "half autograph" - the orchestral parts written by an unknown hand, while the piano solo part is in Chopin's own hand. This edition also draws on contemporary sources, offering Urtext quality at the highest level.
