Description
The compositions for solo voice(s) and orchestra included in this collection were created for a variety of occasions. Some were specifically designed for female vocalists within Beethoven's circle, while others reflect his exploration of Italian opera, guided by the esteemed Antonio Salieri. Few of these works were published during Beethoven's lifetime. In addition to well-known pieces such as “Ah! perfido” op. 65, this collection features lesser-known treasures, including the scene and aria “No, non turbarti” – “Ma tu tremi, o mio tesoro?”, which Beethoven revised several times. The study score incorporates the text from the scholarly Complete Edition. Furthermore, Beethoven expert Ernst Herttrich offers insights into the works' origins and intriguing variations in their transmission history.
