Description
Chopin's expressive world is anchored in the core genres of mazurkas, nocturnes, waltzes, and polonaises. However, he also ventured beyond these traditional forms, as evidenced by the lesser-known works collected in the "Klavierstücke" book. This volume includes two variation cycles, three Écossaises, a rousing Bolero and Tarantelle, as well as the orchestrally-conceived Allegro de concert. These introductory pieces precede three of Chopin's greatest individual compositions from his middle and later creative periods: the Fantasie op. 49, the Berceuse op. 57, and the Barcarolle op. 60 – all available in Henle's paperback, cloth-bound, and study editions.
