Description
criabin's best-known piano piece, the rapturous "Andante" etude, was one of his very first compositions, written when he was just fifteen years old. However, when it was published in 1893, the then-twenty-one-year-old composer was still so obscure that he received no payment from the publisher. Despite not being a virtuosic work, this etude poses a challenge, requiring the pianist to master full-handed chords played legato while clearly voicing the upper and middle parts. The Henle Urtext edition features exemplary fingerings from Boris Giltburg to support this task. Though categorized as a work of medium difficulty, this "earworm" offers a wonderful introduction to Scriabin's distinctive piano style.
