Description
In the spring of 1865, Brahms delighted his friends and acquaintances with a collection of 16 charming waltzes for piano four-hands. He later shared this news with the prominent critic Eduard Hanslick in April 1866, revealing that his inspiration stemmed from "Vienna and its pretty girls," a sentiment reflected in the waltzes' light and cheerful character, reminiscent of Schubert. These pieces remain highly popular for home music-making. This revised Urtext edition presents a scholarly musical text derived from the New Brahms Complete Edition's parallel volume. Additionally, for those without a duet partner, Brahms himself arranged these waltzes for solo piano, published by G. Henle Publishers as HN 1286 and HN 1287.
