Bärenreiter provides a selection of recital pieces designed to complement the Sassmannshaus Early Start on the Viola method. This edition features 14 compositions that span a diverse range of styles, offering viola players an extensive array of engaging concert pieces.
The pieces are organized by increasing difficulty, with two significant works by Georg Eduard Goltermann serving as key examples: the relatively straightforward Andante religioso and the more challenging Adagio and Tarantella. Additionally, the collection includes works by composers such as Kalliwoda, Fauré, Grieg, and Dvořák, among others.
The editor, Kurt Sassmannshaus, is a distinguished violinist and violist, currently serving as a professor of violin in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is dedicated to advancing violin education through various initiatives in Germany, China, and the United States. He continues the legacy of his father, Egon Sassmannshaus, who established new benchmarks with the Sassmannshaus string methods.
