Description
Joseph Haydn's popular Piano Sonata in D major was part of a collection of six sonatas that the composer had published with the Viennese publisher Artaria in 1780. Haydn dedicated this edition to the Viennese pianists Katharina and Marianna Auenbrugger, whom he greatly admired: "The approval of the Misses von Auenbrugger is most important to me; for their way of playing, and their genuine insight into music equals that of the greatest masters."
In the Henle Urtext edition, which is based on the revised volumes of Haydn's complete piano sonatas, pianist Lars Vogt has added fingering suggestions. This makes Haydn's energetic yet technically accessible work newly accessible for all piano enthusiasts.
