Description
The sobriquet “English Suites” – as with the “French Suites” – did not start with Bach himself. In differentiate to the six hint French Suites, Bach's English Suites embrace a more amazing tone, each one opening with a preface in concertante fashion. Two of the sarabandes survive in extra forms that highlight ornamentation by Bach himself; an amazing declaration to his aiming virtuosic and extravagant harpsichord fashion in these pieces.
In spite of the need of signature sources, the melodic content of these works has survived exceptionally well and dependably much obliged to a few modern composition duplicates. For this changed Urtext version Ullrich Scheideler has attempted an excellent examination of true variations, particularly within the ornamentation. All are reported here, and made straightforwardly accessible to the player within the melodic content itself.
