Four volumes of repertoire for beginning and advanced string players can be found in Katherine and Hugh Colledge's Boosey & Hawkes Easy String Music series. Each book builds strong foundations for future learning by gradually introducing and consolidating new methods, fingerings, notes, and rhythms. It is well-liked by both teachers and students. For every volume in the series, there are online resources for demonstration and accompaniment audio. There are two editions of each title: an enlarged edition with extra piano accompaniment or a stand-alone string book for students. The enlarged 2nd between the first and second fingers is one of the 21 pieces in Shooting Stars, the fourth volume of the series, which focuses on 01–2–3–4 and 01–2–34 finger patterns.
