Four volumes of repertoire for beginning and advanced string players can be found in Katherine and Hugh Colledge's Boosey & Hawkes Easy String Music series. Each book builds strong foundations for future learning by gradually introducing and consolidating new methods, fingerings, notes, and rhythms. It is well-liked by both teachers and students.

There are two editions of each title: one that includes a CD with audio tracks for demonstration and accompaniment, and another that includes a booklet for piano accompaniment and downloadable audio resources.

The first book in the series is called Stepping Stones. Twenty-six easy pieces for novices are included in the book. Simple rhythms, first-finger notes, and open strings are presented.
