Description
Henry Eccles' Sonata in G Minor for Violoncello and Piano has four movements that are all in the key of G minor, with a lot of lengthy, dramatic lines interspersed with brief bursts of joy.Henry Eccles was a Baroque violinist and composer who played for King William and Queen Mary and was a part of Queen Anne's Royal Band. He was taken to Paris by the Duke d'Aumont and joined King Louis XIV's court. The well-known English composer Malcolm Lipkin adapted Eccles' 1720 collection of violin and figured bass sonatas into this version for "cello and piano."
