Description
The sounds of water - from fountains, waterfalls, and streams - were a popular subject in musical impressionism. Liszt had already explored this theme in his "Jeux d'eaux à la Villa d'Este", and it also inspired Ravel.
At the same time, Ravel broke new compositional ground with his "Jeux d'eau". In this work, he developed a floating, shimmering harmonic style and created innovative tonal effects. These tone paintings are among the first of our Urtext editions by this important French composer.
To provide musicians with an optimal engraving for this complex music, we have slightly expanded our Urtext format, ensuring excellent readability.
