Description
Beethoven's two Romances for violin and orchestra, Opus 40 in G major and Opus 50 in F major, are rewarding solo pieces that require virtuosic technique and artistic sensitivity. Their straightforward structure, featuring noble melodies followed by virtuosic embellishments, made them popular during Beethoven's lifetime. This Henle Urtext Edition is based on the authoritative Beethoven Complete Edition, and in the preface, editor Ernst Herttrich provides fascinating insights into the genesis and conception of the two Romances. The fingerings were contributed by renowned violinist Wolfgang Schneiderhan, and an unfingered part is also included.
