Description
Antonín Dvořák's piano works are often overshadowed by his more well-known symphonies and chamber pieces, especially those from around 1880 that show the influence of Schubert, Chopin, and Schumann. However, his later romantic tone poems, the "Poetic Tone Pictures" Op. 85, deserve more attention. This 1889 piano cycle, Dvořák's largest, contains gems like the impressive "At the Old Castle" and the lively "Peasant Ballad" that offer romantic piano poetry off the beaten path. Our Urtext edition, edited by Dvořák specialist Milan Pospíšil, is based on the autograph manuscript and first edition from the year of composition.
